Ready to Winterize?

Performing routine maintenance tasks as the seasons change is a good way to keep your home in good repair all year long.

Making frequent small repairs saves you the hassle of making bigger or more expensive repairs in the future, while at the same time enhancing the safety and comfort of your home.

Here are some tips to "winterize" your house:

* Clean the clothes dryer exhaust duct, damper and space under the dryer
* Clean the kitchen exhaust hood and air filter
* Test all ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) outlets
* Check the water hoses on the clothes washer, refrigerator icemaker, and dishwasher for cracks and bubbles
* Wax and buff all wooden floors
* Disconnect all garden hoses
* Recharge fire extinguishers or purchase a new one
* Inspect and touch up interior paint

Postponed or neglected maintenance can become a major issue when it's time to sell your home. In fact, it's still true that a well-maintained home in good repair will almost always sell for a higher price.

If you would like some help in deciding what needs to be done to prepare your home for sale, please feel free to call any time.

Baby, it's cold outside! Make sure your pets have warm, dry shelter during long winter nights.
If you are going on a winter vacation, set the thermostat in your home no lower than 55 degrees.
